Today, at 8:34 PM, a baby boy came into the world 44 years ago,
Nearly eleven years and nine months after me came my little, big bro,
Weighing in at a whopping nine pounds, eight ounces, yet two weeks early was he,
I must admit to a slight disappointment because I hoped the baby was a little she.
However, it only took a moment for me to fall in love with his obvious charm,
I thanked God for an answered prayer, so it was my job to protect my boy from harm,
I took my sisterly duties very seriously to keep him well-fed as well as safe and warm.
Happy birthday dear, brother, I am so sorry we do not see each other much more,
But, I still love you because you were the first baby that I did so adore to the core!!
My sweet little Loki & his Mommy went to the river,
To swim, to cool off and probably shiver & quiver,
But it was busy, so him and Mom decided to go for a run,
But, it was almost tragic, and it was not at all fun!
Freyja, heard the call and started to run along fast,
Loki, was not quite so fast as a car came roaring past,
hitting poor little Little Loki on the side of his face,
he rolled under the car, saved by God’s unfailing grace.
Thank you Jesus for taking care of him & protecting him too,
Another loss, I would not of known what the heck to do!

What my kid has to go through just to read and relax on a camping trip,
As soon as she tried to lay on the silly hammock, it started to sway and tip,
When she had climbed most of the way onto it, to the ground it did dip,
On a brighter note, she wasn’t hurt since the hammock didn’t totally flip,
The great book had to wait a bit; until the tree had a strong enough grip!

The sweet young innocence of a brand new fawn,
Just waiting for Mama to return, resting on the lawn.
I pray the best is yet to come, tiny one, in life’s dawn,
A good life may you have, I wish I had a magic wand.
Cher was a gypsy,
Conflict broke them, Cher & Sonny,
Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves!
Cher, exotic looking,
To my young eyes, grand costumes,
with fragrant perfumes!

Gypsy moths better not
kill my trees, wreck gardens or
Conflict there will be!

Helen Keller was born in 1880, a perfectly healthy baby. However in 1882, she caught what was then called “brain fever.” It was probably either scarlet fever or meningitis. Up until then Helen had been a very precocious child; for example, she began to talk at just six months of age. However, the illness was very serious and robbed of her sight and hearing at about 19 months old. Helen became very angry and confused, and she began to act out in disturbing ways. She threw violent tantrums. Mealtime was a dreadful time because she would get down from her chair and steal food right from the plates of others. Unfortunately, her parents were at at loss as to what to do to help her. Her father wrote a letter to the Perkins Institute for the Blind pleading for help. Soon, an angel named Annie Sullivan arrived.
At first, Annie took complete charge of her, tackling her inappropriate social behaviors first. Annie soon began to spell words, but how would teach Helen the meaning of these words? One day, they were at the water pump. Annie kept spelling W-A-T-E-R into her hand until the light bulb went off in Helen’s head! W-A-T-E-R was the wet liquid flowing on her hands. This led to countless other breakthroughs! She certainly had not lost her precociousness; Helen was very quick and curious to learn.
This is my favorite quote from Helen Keller.
Helen stayed close to Annie until Annie’s passing in 1936.
LOL, I had to edit this because I used too many syllables!
I am so sorry
that I might cause a slight bit
of your discomfort.
A tired Mom I was,
with a brand new babe because
God blessed us with her.

Clumsy hands had I.
